Tomaso Carrer has a Bachelor of Architecture, graduating in 1992 from the Universita’ IUAV of Venice, (formerly the University Institute of Architecture of Venice) with a thesis in Urban Design and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New South Wales. He has received several postgraduate awards, including the “Max Kelly” Postgraduate scholarship for Urban Studies awarded jointly by the University of Venice and the Ministry of the Arts of NSW. In 1994, Tomaso was chosen as a team consultant for the Council of Venice to prepare the General Urban Plan and a series of master plans where he worked with Prof. Leonardo Benevolo. Tomaso has expertise in urban design, open space design, waterfront planning, heritage restoration and conservation. He is Corporate Member of Planning Institute Australia, peer reviewer for the Journal of Landscape Architecture, he has taught courses at the University of NSW such as the inaugural on-line history of design course and he lecturers widely in Australia.
